There are programmes of study in each subject, graded into eight levels.   The levels one to five are appropriate for   primary age children and generally follow the class organisation of this school. A "typical child" leaving class 5 will be expected to achieve at Level Four but many will be challenged to achieve Level Five.

In a school of our size it is inevitable that children spend more than one year in one or more classes. This means we have to organise the curriculum provision in a way that avoids individuals repeating or missing certain components of the course.   We have established Curriculum Frameworks for Keystages 1 and 2, running over two   year cycles, with considerable overlap between them to ensure continuity. Each term we use the Frameworks to plan   learning objectives   for each class and the tasks the children will attempt. We are flexible in the way we organise teaching groups and for some activities it is possible for children to work with older (or younger) pupils where this better matches their needs. Parents are always welcome to view the Curriculum Frameworks or the termly planning documents.

The school is very enthusiastic about the promotion of creativity in the Arts and about offering a wide   range of sports activities to pupils. We participate in competitive sports with other schools and in recent times have won trophies in football, cricket, rugby and athletics. But in all of these we emphasise the importance of good sportsmanship. Aide range of extra-curricular activities is provided and these are listed in the weekly Newsletter.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In September 2007 we introduced the renewed Kent agreed syllabus for RE. Copies of the syllabus are available to parents on request. Acts of worship are held daily.

Parents may, if they so wish, withdraw their children from assemblies, R.E. and other religious activities.

The Vicar takes a whole school Assembly on Wednesdays. The Headteacher takes whole school Assembly on Tuesdays. Class acts of worship are held on Monday and Thursdays.

The Friday Assembly at 2.45 p.m. is open to all parents and Friends. This is a celebration assembly where we present awards for good work and good behaviour. We are always happy to present any awards achieved out of school at this assembly. A part of any Assembly is the opportunity to pause for reflection. Therefore we ask the children to enter the hall quietly and maintain a respectful silence. We trust that adults who join us on Friday afternoons will contribute to the atmosphere of respect and remain quiet when the children enter the hall.
