Trip to Tutankhmun

Our Trip to Tutankhamun
On Thursday 19th June, years 3, 4, 5 and 6 went to visit the Tutankhamen exhibition in the o2 arena in London. This exhibition was last shown in London 30 years ago, this made it even more special to visit and explore.
It was really interesting to see most of the well preserved artefacts that came out of the tomb. One of the things we saw was a duck head stall in black and white paint, and some carved fruit. The Egyptians believed that when the pharaoh dies, he or she would enter another life, called the “afterlife”. So when he came to live again he would need food and water that why they mummified fruit, thinking that would come alive to. Overall I loved the exhibition and found it a very educational trip.

At 9.30 we set off if in the coach it was great we sang and played top trumps we were going to London, whoop! 1 hour later I was board we all were so we stopped at Greenwich park it was good because we could eat some of are lunch then we played duck-duck-goose we got back on the coach 12 minutes later we were there at the 02 arena, we ate all our lunch and we queued for ages and ages, then Mrs. Hope said the rules of the 02 arena we went up a tall elevator to the top floor and some people looked down, I couldn’t because we were too high up.
We then went in to a dark room and watched a movie, after that we went into the first of eleven galleries there was 1 statue with a light shining on it very affective I thought there was a sign saying what the statue was of, I then went into the second gallery in this there were some gold encloses and bracelets not much in that gallery. The third gallery was good it had a statue of King Tuts wives head that was interesting because next to it there was a family tree gallery four, had King Tuts chair was in it, ‘WOW’ it was amazing as this was over 3000 years old.
The fifth gallery was the best, it had King Tuts wife sarcophagus in it cool hay, we went down flight of stairs to gallery six where we saw all most all of his possessions he had in his tomb like ,gold, children, money ,and stuff how cool is this do you know who found his tomb? Well I do it was Howard cater we saw a movie of him finding the tomb in gallery seven.
In gallery eight it was way boring it was just a lot of letters and hilgrifcks were gallery nine was amazing there ware about 20 TV showing loads of TV articles and picks of him the special one king tut in the next room there was 1 60 inch TV and a blue ball which you could rotate and see all the parts of king tuts sarcophagus.
Whoop! Shop time but it was way to expensive I brought a magnet for 4 pound 50p a post card for 75p and a mummy for 1 pound the most expensive thing was a gold necklace which costs 50,0000 pounds on the way back I sat next to Joel we played Top Trumps and sang a song then me and Joel fell asleep we also read my book by Michel Morpergo called born to run I went from page 29 to page 75 when we got back to school my mum was there waiting because we were meant to be back at 3.00 pm.

Sports Relief

The children all took part in Sports Relief and raised £475.92 for this good cause. All the different parts were manned by the children of the higher classes and they all helped the younger children to do the sport they chose to do on the day.

A lot of the staff also got involved and seem to really enjoy it!

Again find some more pictures on the gallery for you to enjoy.

Lambs in school

Recently Mrs Lynda Vincent brought in some lambs to the school for the children to touch and feed. It is very good for the children to see the lambs as we do live in the middle of a lot of farms with many lambs playing in the fields.

All the children enjoyed seeing the lambs and as well as the pictures on this page there are some nice ones of the children on the gallery.

Owls at school

We recently had owls in the school and the children had an opportunity to see owls close up. At the beginning of the day the owls
were shown to the whole school and the children were taught about the different sorts of owls.
After this all the children had their photograph taken with an owl on their shoulder.
Later in the morning there was a flying display in the hall. Some of the children also had the opportunity to come up the front and hold one of the owls before the flight.
One of the owls decided it would be nice to have a rest on the lighting system and needed some coaxing down again by the keepers and if you look carefully at this picture you will see an owl in flight.
A great day was had and very educational for the children.
Thank you to owl time for bringing in the owls for the children to see.

There are photographs on the gallery page from the Easter bonnet and egg competition and also from Book week!
A Letter from the Queen
During October 2007, Class 2 took part in their annual seed competition. This year the title was “The Queen’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary”. The children were asked to make a collage out of seeds. The entries were judges by Mrs Gay and Mrs Hall (Chair of the Governors), with main prizes being awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and all children receiving a prize for entering.
1st prize Jacob, 2nd prize Frankie and 3rd prize Tom.
We decided to write a letter to Her Majesty and Jacob wrote it out. We were delighted to receive a reply from a Lady – in – Waiting, thanking us for the letter and photographs.

Dover Castle Trip
On the 8th of November 2007 class 3 and 4 went on a school trip to Dover Castle. Mr Davison was hurrying us in the hall next thing we knew we were on the coach and on the way to Dover castle this was at 8.50 am. We all sat next to our friends on the coach and we were chatting and singing all the way there.
Once we got there we had to wait to be able to get in as we were a bit early.
We went to the tunnels straight away.
We entered the tunnels, and we met our tour guide. He led us a little way into a mini cinema, we watched a film about World War 2 and how the tunnels came to be there. Our tour led us out of the tunnels and outside. When we entered the tunnels again, we found our selves in the hospitals, it was really smelly down there. Suddenly the lights started flickering on and off. We entered the kitchen and saw some realistic food. A little bit further we went in to the toilet then I saw some feet under the toilet door so I had a bit of a giggle.
The lights did go on and off from time to time which we all found a bit scary. It was a very good trip through the tunnels and we learnt a lot from our tour guide.
Mr Davison our teacher then went looking around for a place to eat lunch so we all sat down on the big lawn and started to chat so we wouldn`t get bored then we all realised that their was a little hole in the wall and we could only fit about three off us in there and it was warmer than sitting outside. When Mr Davison came back he said he couldn`t find the place that he`d booked to eat lunch then this man came out of a building and told us that we were supposed to go there. We went to a little building with two floors and had our lunch on the second floor. There was a cinema under where we had our lunch. Even though the room had great big benches there was not quite enough room for all of us but we managed to squeeze in. There was lots of paint flaking off the walls which showed how old the room really was. Lunch was very nice. Lunch filled everybody up nicely so we had lots of energy for seeing the castle, gift shop and castle’s keep. It was a nice lunch and everybody was ready to do exactly that. Everybody was chatting and sitting next to their best friends.
After lunch went to a shop. The shop was so cool and it had lost of nice stuff I wished that I could get all of it. The shop was full of models and delicious sweets. The books looked very interesting. There were so many things we wanted to buy. We all had a chance to buy the things we wanted to, and we all showed each other what we had bought.
After the shop we all went for a look around the castle itself. We found ourselves clambering up a spiral staircase. When we reached the top of castle we almost got blown off our feet. The view was phenomenal it was hard to see because the wind made our eyes water. After we went to the top of the castle we went in the castle. First we went into the wood chamber it was where the carpenters use to work. Next we went into Thomas Becket’s chapel. After that we went to King Henry the 8ths bed chamber. When we stepped on the rug the king started shouting at us (it was really funny). Then we went into the toilets which I have to tell were disgusting and it was just a hole. Finally we went in to the interactive room. That was the end of the castle tour.
When we got outside of the Keep we went in a museum about the royal family.
I thought it was very interesting and I would definitely go there again hopefully the teachers enjoyed it as well and then finally it was 3.oopm and everyone went home it was a very interesting day.
