Thank you to those that attended this productive meeting.

-Social Media use to promote the school

The introduction and use of social media (Facebook) to promote the school was discussed and reviewed.  Those present agreed that it was a good way to raise the profile of the school and that the content was interesting and reflected the schools image very well.

Some parents were unaware of the page.  It was suggested that parents where emailed a link to the page.

Social Media will not be a way of communicating important information to parents.  This will continue to be emailed and sent via letters and texts through the app.

-The School App

The introduction of the school app had a positive response from all parents.  The way that it simplified the information from the school website to relevant information for the present time was well received.

-Cooking in school

The content of the National Curriculum linked to cooking was discussed.

The parents and staff present wanted to see a focus on understanding what a healthy diet looked like.  This content is covered between Science and cooking (Design and Technology).

They would like to see the vegetables grown at school used in the children’s' cooking so they can develop an understanding of where food comes from and how it is grown.  This would also help develop an understanding of seasonal produce.

Baking of bread was an area that we all thought would be exciting for the children.  The purchase of bread machines will be explored.

Health and hygiene was discussed- the PTA have agreed to fund a dishwasher to ensure that all the utensils and equipment are sterile.  Aprons will be used and risk benefit documents will be in place to ensure the safety of the children and staff.

-Skills audit for all stakeholders

A skills audit will be prepared and sent to parents.  Tick boxes for areas of support where we know help and support is needed would be included.  Also, a blank space where other skills that parents are willing to share could be added.

-Learning together events

The previous events were discussed and those present thought that these had been useful in helping their understanding of what is taught in our school.

Parents would like to have an opportunity to have similar events with writing, phonics, reading, maths and DT being a theme (as well as all other subjects!)

These will be explored and dates will be set for the remainder of the year.

AOB

It was suggested that we have an art inspired theme week.  This would be explored as an option for term 6.  (Maybe The Arts rather than Art so our work with the RSC could be included)
