Nightingale's Poem for Harvest - 2nd October
Harvest time is here, hooray!
Time to gather, sing, and say…
Thank you, thank you, God above,
For harvest food and for your love.
We share our food, we give, we pray,
With thankful hearts this Harvest Day!
Fields of wheat on rolling downs,
Hugo Apples grown in Kentish towns.
Pears and plums in orchards sweet,
Harvest baskets at our feet.
Hops once climbing, tall and green,
Sheep and cattle in the scene.
Blackberries along the lane,
Pumpkins ripened by the rain.
Thank you, thank you, God above,
For harvest food and for your love.
We share our food, we give, we pray,
With thankful hearts this Harvest Day!
Farmers working, dusk till dawn,
Bringing food for us each morn.
Elham valley, wide and fair,
Shows God’s gifts are everywhere.
England’s seasons, sun and rain,
Bring the harvest once again.
We give thanks, both loud and clear
Audrey For all the blessings gathered here.
Thank you, thank you, God above,
For harvest food and for your love.
We share our food, we give, we pray,
With thankful hearts this Harvest Day!
