Forest School Learning

Forest School is an important part of life at Elham Primary, providing children with regular opportunities to learn outdoors, develop practical skills and build confidence through exploration and discovery.

The children have been having a fantastic time at Forest School, working together, exploring and getting creative!

One group mined for chalk and turned it into ‘dough balls’, which they then traded with another group in exchange for sticks and logs! 🪵

They also made natural dyes using turmeric and elderberries, which they used to create their own tie-dye designs. 🎨

The mud kitchen, hammocks, swing and den-making areas have all been very popular, providing plenty of opportunities for imaginative play, teamwork and exploration. 🌳💚

We are very proud to offer Forest School learning to the children at Elham Primary. Our Forest School provides children with regular opportunities to explore the natural environment, develop practical skills, build confidence and learn through hands-on experiences.

With support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we have been able to create our wonderful roundhouse and invest in the resources and training needed to make Forest School a safe, enjoyable and enriching experience for our children.

Our Forest School sessions are led by a qualified Forest School Leader and follow carefully considered procedures to ensure that children can explore, learn and take appropriate risks in a safe and supportive environment.
