We have had a great morning! We had a surprise sack from Ghana containing a snack, rock, stick and a spider - what a shock!
We all learnt a call and response song from Ghana called Che Che Kule and then the Year R children used magnifying glasses to find bugs in our outdoor area and make a habitat for them. The Year 1 children played a game of hide and seek with spider. The children took turns to place the spider in/on/under/beside/behind the sack, stick, rock or snack. The children then had to find the spider and make a statement such as 'The spider is on the rock'
Maths
The Year R children have been matching objects and the Year 1 children have been sorting objects today.
Learning Choices
The spider who arrived yesterday from Ghana gave us a clue to find a book called Anansi the Spider. This is our focus text for the next few weeks. We read some of the story and then the Year R children went to make their own spider like Anansi. The Year 1 children then ordered the story so far and then had to describe three of the spiders six sons. There was some great discussion and super writing!
Learning Choices
The children have all been using the stage and working out how to hang their costumes up when they have finished. They have loved using the microphones!
Science - YR1/2
This term in science our learning will be about 'Animals, including humans'. Today the children worked in small groups, drew around each other and then labelled as many body parts as they could think of. We had some fantastic answers!
The children really enjoyed PE today - this term it is Tag Rugby.
