The children all returned from their half term break ready for learning and enthusiastic for the term ahead. We have been looking at multiples and factors in maths, using our times tables facts to help and finding patterns in numbers. We started our new book in English, 'Windrush Child.' exploring the events around the Empire Windrush bringing many Jamaicans to England to start a new life, from a child's point of view. 'Beetle Boy' is the book we have started in Guided reading - a comedic adventure story full of twists and turns. We spent some time making Christmas cards ready to be sent off and published, although felt very strange doing this in October!
We have a student teacher joining us as of next week, Mrs Gemma Iverson. She is from Christchurch University, and in her second year of training, so I'm sure the children will make her feel welcome, and tell you all about her next week. She will be in at different times during the year.
We hope you enjoy any Halloween celebrations taking place this weekend, and that sugar rushes have worn off by Monday!
Mrs Hall and Mrs Pegler.
