Week beg: 09.09.24
We've had an excellent first full week in Beech class, starting new units and reading new books.
In Maths we have started our concept of place value, working with numbers up to a million. We've considered the importance of knowing what each digit is worth and how this can be represented in different ways. In English we started to read Stone Age Boy, once we had written predictions about where he had fallen down to. We wrote instructions for some different Stone Age jobs that we learnt about, including how thread was made using the insides of animals (intestines and veins!) In Science we started our unit on light and where it comes from, man made and natural. Many of us thought the moon was a source of light but learnt that it is reflecting light from the sun. In Computing we continued with our previous learning on programming, and created a pattern of squares using a repeating code. In music we are listening to and appraising Blues music. We learnt how this genre of music was created by slaves in the past, and how it influences rock and jazz music.
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Hall and Miss Laslett
