Week beg: 16.06.25

This week in maths we have been translating shapes using coordinates and direction.  The children enjoyed doing this, but had to ensure they were translating and then joining the correct points.  In english we have been using colloquialisms (slang) to reflect the personalities of the characters in our story.  The children were very good at this and came out with some very funny but relevant word and phrases.  We did some lovely sketching in art, focusing on using proportion, but the children also applied their shading skills from last lesson to show depth and tone.  We filled a page with wax crayon and black paint for the next lessons skill!  We started a new unit in French using the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears.  It seemed overwhelming at first, but then we realised that we recognised some of the language, such as ' trois, maison and foret'.  Wednesday we had a fabulous sports day.  The children worked really hard at each station, and tried their best at their races, as did the parents!  Well done those in Earth team for winning the shield, but also to every child that scored points for their team.  Excellent teamwork from all was evident, and it was a fun and relaxing morning.  In the afternoon, we got to watch the year 6 rehearsal of the Lion King and join in with the singing.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Hall and Miss Laslett
