20.1.25
The children have started the week by making 'one more' and 'one less. Last term they were working with numbers to 10, this term it's numbers to 20. Getting the numbers the right way round can be tricky. Please practise at home, not just with the writing but with anything small you can use so the children get practical experience. Many thanks. In class we use tens and ones and today they found out that 2 tens make 20. The difference between tens and ones is a tricky one for the children and some take weeks to get it!
When you read in the evening with your children could you please take out a non-fiction book and go on a hunt to find the different features of non-fiction books? Today we have found titles, subtitles, photographs, labels and the contents page.
We have talked about our whole school story in RE today and thought about the good news that Jesus brought the people in his time and the lessons we learn from this story.
Maths
We spent a lot of our lesson outside today. The children were given the start and end of a number line and had to estimate where a given number would go. They then had a go at working with a partner to complete their own number lines.

This weeks mode of transport that we looked at was a Viking longboat, I think this has definitely been a favourite so far! We thought about what it would have been like travelling on the longship and looked at how it was designed. We then made our very own longship!
