Acorns have joined Hazels today. First of all, a walk down memory lane for Hazel Class, as Acorn Class showed them all their favourite things in the classroom and then they had a lovely play.
Hazel Class introduced Acorn class to life in year one and explained all the different areas and showed them how things work.
After lunch Hazel Class read to Acorn Class while they cooled down.
We all did Science together. Between us we worked out that plants are alive, they need sunshine, water and air. They grow from seeds or bulbs. They are not all the same. Outside, the children looked for the following: a plant with many leaves, a plant that smells, a plant that was taller than them, a plant in a strange place, a plant with a flower and a plant with a trunk. They attached bits of the plants onto sticky bracelets.
What a beautiful sunny day to do PE on! The children practised their fielding skills and then learned about which side of a bat to use when they hit a ball.
In DT we have thought about where fruit and vegetables grow. We compared some fruits and vegetables and checked to see if the vegetables really were vegetables by cutting them open and searching for seeds.
