Week four already and we are counting backwards from any number up to ten. But we also tried counting back from any number up to twenty, which was much more difficult. We used bead strings to help, trying hard to remember that you MUST move a bead EACH time you count.

Every Monday morning Carole comes in with her lovely dog Jess. Jess likes two things best: children and food! The children took it in turns to read to Jess and give her a treat.
The children used the props in the photo below to try to remember the Story of the Lost (Prodigal) Son, which we read briefly last week. They enacted the story and thought about what God was trying to say through the story.
Lots of new vocabulary has been learned in art. We are looking at line making and the children have been using: horizontal, vertical, diagonal, wavy, broken and crosshatch. The ones they find hardest are vertical and crosshatch (they understand crosshatch but keep saying crosspatch!). Today the children worked co-operatively to produce a sea scene, taking inspiration from professional paintings and music. This is where they have got so far, but they will be adding sea-life to their art.
Forest Fun!
Another week has flown by and here we are back in the woods again. The weather was good to us and we were very lucky not to get drenched. Today's activity was to identify different leaves. All the children found 6 different leaves and compared them to the ones on their sheets
English
We have started looking at our new book this week in english called 'Leo And The Octopus' by Isabelle Marinov. Leo had written a letter to the children today to ask for their advice and also to say that he had left a present for us in the cupboard!! To our amazement we found an octopus that needs looking after for the rest of the term!
