Our first full week back in school!

The children have enjoyed PE in the sunshine this afternoon with our coaches learning tag rugby. Thank you for remembering to wear PE kit to school - please remember to refer to our school uniform guide for a reminder of PE kit to be worn every Wednesday. We will try to fit in another PE session sometime during the week, but kit will not be needed for this.

We have been learning about place value in Maths this week and started our Topic work on the Stone Age which connects nicely to our English lessons based on the book Stone Age Boy.

We have begun French lessons with an introduction to greetings this week.

The children have taken their star reader tests today and will soon bring home their Reading Records and book levels.

Spellings have been given to the children - there is a copy of the whole term's words for them to put up on their bedroom walls (I can but hope!!), and a sheet of this week's spellings to help them practise at home. Our first spelling test will be next Tuesday morning.

We have begun our times tables tests, which will be weekly on a Wednesday - well done to everyone who tried really hard!

The children enjoyed learning about cave paintings this afternoon. We thought about what we could see in the paintings as well as how and why they were painted. We finished off by looking at the different colours we could see - lots of browns, dark reds and oranges - so practised mixing many different shades of brown ready for when we do our own paintings over the next few weeks.
