7.6.21

Welcome back to our final term of this academic year - and it's certainly been a strange one!

Congratulations to our top point scorers for Accelerated Reader in term 5: Sabine earned 39 points, Gaby earned 47 points, Beaumont earned 50 points and between our 2 top scorers there was a mere 0.3! Well done Jago with 52.4 points and Miles with 52.7 points! Keep reading Beech class - there's nothing like it when you find a series or author you love!

This week Beech class have been having fun with Science hosted by the STEM Ambassadors at the Kent Science Jamboree. On Monday we enjoyed Surprising Science which showed us lots of optical illusion tricks - it was all about the Wow! How? Now...

and on Tuesday we joined Incredible Oceans for Exploring Our Oceans and found out about creatures that we'd never heard of and volcanoes under the sea!

The children have been enjoying learning about short multiplication in Maths and stretching their times tables knowledge - they're really finding that practising times tables helps when we are learning about multiplication in school.

We have begun reading a new book in English: The White Giraffe by Lauren St John. They have already created some super leaflets about South Africa and are looking forward to working on the rest of the story.

We are looking forward to more fun with Ian from Kik Theatre on Friday and lots of activities for Book Week next week - with dressing up as a character from a book on Friday 18th June.

A huge well done to Beech class this week: year 5 have done their CATs tests and were very focused! Mr File will email parents with results next week. Year 4 researched the orphaned elephants for adoption and we had a vote to choose the baby we'd like to sponsor: Kinyei was chosen. Thanks to all who have donated.
