Star of the Week

This weeks 'star of the week' is Zoe.

You are a superstar. You come in each day with a smile on your face and you are always ready to learn. We are proud of the example you set for the other children in Hazel class. You are kind, friendly and have wonderful manners.

In English, your innovated story about a visitor who came to your house was carefully planned and the presentation was superb. You are always keen to contribute and share your knowledge. Well done Zoe!

Book Week

We had an exciting visit from the amazing Ian from KIC theatre to start of our book week. He led us through a fun and exciting drama workshop based around the story Journey by Aaron Becker which the children are familiar with as this was our focus in English last term. The children were encouraged to use their acting skills to display the emotions and actions of the main character in the story. They were fabulous!

We will be starting the sequel to this story next week.

Maths

In Maths we are revisiting measurement. Today we used the language of length such as long, longer, short, shorter, tall, taller. We talked about how the language will change depending on what type of length they are describing and comparing.

We used the words taller and shorter to compare the height of some of the children in class.

We used the words longer and shorter to compare a variety of objects.

We were looking at a book about camping this week and there was a recipe about how to make Eggy Bread, so we made some!  The children really enjoyed eating it afterwards.  In fact the whole morning was spent eating because in Maths we had bags of sweets and were trying to work out what a quarter and half of the total number of sweets was.  It was tricky because there were over eighty sweets in the packet!

You will see pictures of the Eggy Bread making below, plus pictures of our continued efforts in the garden.  Finally, there is a picture of Edith and Jacob, our IT experts, who went around the classroom supporting others who are less familiar with laptop technology.
