Star of the week

This weeks 'star of the week' is Joshua. You have had a brilliant week. You have come straight into class each morning ready to learn. Your rehearsal of our talk for writing recount was fabulous and we enjoyed listening to you share your knowledge of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot. You have listened and followed instructions really well this week. We are proud of you, well done and keep it up!

In topic we have been continuing to find out about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot and why we have fireworks on the 5th November.

We created these amazing firework pictures for our new display.

In RE we have been finding out about Advent. We learnt that the four weeks leading up to Christmas are Advent when some Christians are wait and prepare for celebrating the birth of Jesus.

The children made these beautiful Advent wreaths!

Reading books

Please remember that books need to come back to school on Fridays.  We send them out on a Monday so your child can read the books to you more than once and build up their fluency!

We are ordering numbers again this week, from greatest to smallest and smallest to greatest.  This term the numbers are bigger and we are ordering more than just two or three.
We have been learning about positive attitudes this week also!  The children drew things they find tricky and easy and then we discussed how a positive attitude might help them to overcome difficulties.  After that they had a challenge to see if they could remain positive all the way through!
We have made more moving pictures in DT, this week using levers and pivots.  There are some challenge cards at the bottom of the page for the children to try at home!  Apologies for the picture not being the right way up - I have tried twice but the ipad is having a funny turn!
