Term 3

Term 3 Week 1

Welcome back Acorns. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a happy new Year. Thank you for the lovely gifts from the children they were much appreciated.

This term we will be learning about people in the community who help us. Have a look at the termly overview above outlining some of the things we will cover. There will be a real emphasis on blending our sounds this term with many of the children doing this daily on a 1:1 basis with an adult. The more you do this at home the better they get. What you do now really does make a difference.

This week we have looked at the months of the year and discussed the passing of time. We all thought the New Year fireworks at the London Eye were great and we know that we are now in 2019. We have thought about the seasons of the year and what happens in which season.

PE was fun on Friday with the children learning how to sit in a space, different ways of travelling and balancing and how to land when jumping by bending their knees.

Please make sure your child has a PE kit fully labelled. We will be doing PE every week now.

Term 3 Week 3

We've had a good week learning about the police. We took robbers out of jail to learn subtraction. We labelled a police officer and learnt about how to keep safe.

Term 3 week 4

Wow Acorn class had lots of fun in the snow this week.

Our learning has been about paramedics and how they help people. The children have loved dressing up and making each other better.

Term 3 Week 5

We had a super time learning about Chinese New Year. We learnt that this year is the year of the Pig and that Acorn children were born in the year of the Snake or the Horse. We tasted some Chinese food. It was super yummy but the chopsticks were tricky. We also made traditional red envelopes which are given filled with coins to Chinese children.

Term 3 Week 6

What an exciting start to the week. Our visit to 3 Hills was a super experience for the children. We did lots of sporting activities and worked in teams to complete games.

Ian from KIC Theatre visited us on Tuesday and led a drama session about the Emergency Services we have been learning about this term.
Wow! What a fab time we had at Forest School this morning. We explored our new woodland area. The children made ladybird houses and had great fun in the hammock. Violet wins the prize for the best tree climber! My goodness what amazing spacial awareness. Well done Violet.
