Today we made, taste tested and evaluated our biscuit designs.
In groups, we started with a basic biscuit recipe, and used scales to measure out the ingredients. We formed the mixture into a dough and then shared this out between us. Each of us then innovated the recipe using our own ideas of what ingredients to use. We rolled out the dough and used cutters to create our biscuits ready to be baked. We were all very helpful at cleaning the classroom up afterwards as we all seemed to be covered in flour!
After lunch we then decorated our biscuits. Some of us had never seen icing sugar before! We used dyes to create different coloured icing, and used many tasty toppings such as marshmallows and fudge! Once we had completed our biscuits we evaluated their appearance, taste and the overall production process. We then got to taste 2 other people's biscuits and commented on our opinions of them. There were some great designs, including cats, lamas, penguins and Pokeballs! Many of the biscuits were very lavish; covered in bright colours and textures.
We had great fun, and maybe one day our biscuit designs could end up on the shelves of supermarkets all around the world!
