Friday 25th March 2022

What a beautiful, warm, sunny week we have all enjoyed. It has been such fun to be playing on the pitch again and using our new climbing equipment.

This week's focus in English has been to write our own piece of creative writing based on a short film called 'The Plague Doctor'. It is an animation filled with striking imagery, which has allowed us to really use our imaginations and, as a result, we have produced some excellent pieces of creative writing. Below is a link to the animation, if you would like to watch it.

We enjoyed learning about how Christians worship on Good Friday and Easter Sunday and worked really well in small groups to ask and answer questions and then write an explanatory piece about one of the days.

On Friday, the children as Forest School with Mr File planted seven silver birch trees in preparation for our special event next Friday afternoon to mark the queen's Platinum Jubilee.  Everyone is welcome to attend, so please do try to come along and see each class in action!

Also on Friday, we were joined in our assembly by Derek Boughton, the chairman of the Elham Historical Society. He gave us a presentation showing when special trees had been planted at different times in Elham. We really enjoyed this as we saw pictures of the village many years ago and then at this moment in time and we were fascinated to see how the trees had grown and to learn why they were planted. If you play on the King George playing field in Elham, watch out for a new mulberry tree being planted there to celebrate the jubilee. If you ever get the chance to taste a mulberry, take it as they are absolutely delicious!

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend - it's set to get cooler again on Monday.
