Spellings
This week we have been starting new topics and began our new English text. In maths, we have been exploring number and place value; looking at value of digits. We made predictions about our new text using clues around the room, and when we started to read it, wrote setting descriptions using prepositions and senses. It is called Escape From Pompeii. We started our Roman topic and role played and recalled the story of Romulus and Remus, the legend of how Rome began. We made some lovely Christmas pictures to send off to be printed ( it felt a little early!!). In PE we started some pop lacrosse skills, and had great fun using the scoops.
With Miss Laslett this week in maths we moved on to learning about perimeter. In science we recapped what we had learnt last week about vertebrates by playing guess who (see pictures) before moving on to learn about invertebrates and designing our very own minibeasts. In PSHE we explored our own super powers and what makes us who we are. We devised mind maps and created poems that showcased our individuality. We continued with 'Make you feel my love' by Adele this week by comparing her version to the original by Bob Dylan (who none of the children had heard of!)
Thank you to all parents who came to 'Meet the Teacher' on Wednesday, and for those who wasn't able to make it, the presentation is on the website. Thank you for supporting the children to complete and hand in their spelling and reading homework.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Hall and Miss Laslett
