Our curriculum intent for Design and Technology learning

At Elham C of E Primary School, through the teaching of Design & Technology, it is our aim that our children have the opportunity to research, design, make and evaluate a variety of products including food.

They will develop the skills to-

RESEARCH by investigating how things work, whether they are fit for purpose and learning why products appeal to different groups of people and individuals.

DESIGN products that meet specific criteria, adapting as they go.

MAKE high-quality prototypes to test their ideas, develop their knowledge and skills, adapting as they go.

EVALUATE products that they and others have made.  They will be able to explain good points as well as offer ways that they think that products and designs can be improved.

Through DT the children will also develop their oracy using specific vocabulary linked to the subject.
