Star of the Week
This weeks Star of the Week is Eloise.
Eloise, you have settled fantastically into Hazel class. You come into class with a smile on your face and you are always ready to learn. This week in Maths you have really impressed us with adding groups of objects to find the total - you are a Maths superstar! Well done for always being so positive, kind and helpful, you are a real asset to our class.
Harvest Assembly
The children were amazing during our Harvest Assembly in the church. They sang our scarecrow song beautifully with actions to match. I am super proud of them!
In English we have been looking at information texts and finding out the differences between these types of books and fiction books. We spent some time looking at a range of information texts and pointing out the contents page, captions, labels, index and glossary. The children then had to help Mrs Grady (who had got into a muddle) sort a big pile of books into fiction and non-fiction.
It was nice to meet you and put some names to faces at our zoom meeting!
For those of you who are interested in taking a look at the Phonics Screening test the children will do in May please follow the link below:
catching and throwing
It is the week we celebrate Harvest Festival. As well as practising a song that we will sing in church, we have talked about why we celebrate Harvest Festival and done some art work using pastels.
In maths we are learning to add two numbers. The children manage this well when they see the numbers written as numerals in a number sentence (2+3=5), but find it hard if presented with a object, say a domino, and have to add up the dots on either side to find the total number of dots and then write that down as a number sentence. We will continue to practise this. Next week we will be moving onto subtraction.
