DT - creating electrical systems using switches

This week we have been calculating square and cubed numbers, as well as practising some word problems in Maths.  In English, we learnt a Michael Rosen poem called, 'The Portesham Mirror'; all about a mirror from the Iron Age being discovered as a Grave good, and what power the mirror had.  The children then had to be an ancient relic, and write a poem about themselves as an item.  They have also reflected on the poems that we have learnt over the last 2 weeks, and wrote their own using different poetic features of their choice.  They are very impressive!  In RE we had a very detailed discussion about children's own ideas about God, and they posed some very thought-provoking questions.  We concluded our Stone Age to Iron Age topic through a quiz to discover our knowledge that has really stuck in our minds.  We had a great afternoon of DT on Thursday; creating more circuits, this time using switches.  We learnt how to play Mama Mia on the xylophones in music.  Wednesday was a day full of fun watching Jack and the Beanstalk at the Marlowe Theatre.  It was funny, exciting, full of colour and chaos!  The whole class were so well behaved, and it was lovely to see their faces light up watching the performance.  What a fabulous treat!

Have a good weekend,

Mrs Hall
