Our curriculum intent for Music learning

At Elham C of E Primary School, it is our aim that our children, through a high-quality Music education are engaged, inspired and develop a love of music. Whilst developing their creativity and talent as musicians, self-confidence and a sense of achievement will be enhanced. They should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose and listen with discrimination.

They will develop the knowledge and skills to-

-      Perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of great composers and musicians.

-     Learn to sing and to use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others, have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and use technology appropriately.

-      Understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the interrelated dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations.
