Term 6

Week 1

Welcome back after a lovely week off.

Our Topic this term will be about the sea. We've had a look at rock pools this week and thought about all of the creatures that live in them. We wrote about the creatures using adjectives. In our maths learning we we have been recognising coins and adding values to 10p.

We made our own seaside ice creams so that we could use our coins to buy them.

Term 6 Wk 2

We've had another lovely week in Acorn class. We have continued our learning about the sea and looked at pictures of lighthouses and thought about keeping safe in and near water.

In maths we used standard units to help us measure how far it was from the cottage to the lighthouse. Then we doubled our numbers. WOW! some super mathematicians.

We have also been making lots of things for the Fete tomorrow, see if you can spot them.

Term 6 Wk 3

We've had another busy week in Acorn class. We have continued learning about the sea and Mr Grinling's lighthouse. In Maths we used numicon to make number bonds to 10, some of us even worked out number bonds to 20 and wrote them down. Wow!

Sports day was fantastic with everyone trying their hardest and having a fabulous time.

The cream tea's were very nice too!

Term 6 Wk 4

Bikability came to Elham this week. All the children had a super time learning how to use the balance bikes.

We have also been learning about Pirates and have read the story 'Pirates love Underpants' we designed our own pirate underpants and described them using interesting adjectives.

In maths we counted, ordered and wrote down numbers to 20, we can all count to 20 now! Wow!

Week 5

We have still been learning about pirates this week. We took our telescopes on to the field to see what we could see. We wrote sentences about what we could see through our telescopes.

We also tasted our salad we have grown, it was really yummy!
In maths we thought about how pirates needed to follow directions to find the treasure. We gave each other directions and carefully followed them.
We also made some fab lighthouses carefully cutting and sticking all the pieces together.
And to end the week a fantastic art show! Never a dull moment at Elham!

Week 6

Another busy and sporty week for Acorn class.

We learnt lots of squash skills earlier in the week and team games with the Fun Factory on Thursday.

Our school trip on Friday was great fun at George's Barn. We did loads of activities, and had a super time.

The final week of a fantastic year. Busy as usual, I think we all need a break! Well done to the lovely Acorns, who have been a fabulous class to teach and who have made my first year at Elham one to remember. I hope you all have a lovely summer and are looking forward to more fun challenges in year 1.
