Remembrance

The children were all very respectful when we observed a 2 minute silence on the playgound with the rest of the school on Monday morning. Well done everyone! We have been learning about Remembrance Day and looking at the poem In Flanders Field.

Protect Our Planet Day

We had an interesting day with live lessons hosted by STEM Learning. First we visited the Ocean where we learned about the layers of the ocean, and next we had a live lesson about Rainforests from the Fainforest Biome at The Eden Project. This afternoon we learned about the Greenhouse Effect and set up an experiment in the classroom where we measured the temperatures in 2 different jars which represented a world with a greenhouse layer and one without. The greenhouse effect (heated by a desk lamp) raised the temperature by 8c over the afternoon session. Our "class governor" Mr Turner joined us for our morning sessions. It was lovely to have him with us and the children all enjoyed chatting with him!
