In PSHE this term the children will be thinking about where money comes from and how it can be used. We will discuss the idea of spending and saving money and begin to understand why it is important to keep belongings, including money, safe. The children will also learn about the different things on offer when they go shopping and how we need to identify the difference between the things we want and the things we need.
Today we discussed why we need money, the different forms money comes in (coins, cash, contact payment, bank cards, online money transfers) and when we might use each form of money. The children worked in groups to read scenario cards and then decided the method of payment that would be best for their item.
Over the next week I have asked the children to observe any spending they see and what forms of money are used.
A great, but noisy, time was had with the glockenspiels! The children have learnt the note E.
