Gurdwara and Rochester Cathedral class trip
What an amazing start to the week we had visiting the Sikhi Gurdwara in Gravesend and Rochester Cathedral on Monday. The children were incredibly respectful in both places of worship. It was so lovely to see the children enjoy learning about a religion new to them within the place that is so sacred to the Sikhi community. We especially enjoyed the Langar food that was given generously to us, and appreciated the welcoming hospitality that we received. In the cathedral we had an informed tour, and Edith played at being the Bishop, sitting on the Cathedra seat in her robes. Zoe and Harry reenacted a Baptism with baby Bob, with Eleanor being the font and Douglas a wonderful vicar! We discussed the difference between both places during our RE lesson on Thursday, as well as find out how the Sikhi religion started with Guru Nanak. In maths this week we finished our unit on addition and subtraction by solving some tricky 2 step word problems, ensuring we were understanding the questions and which calculations we needed to choose. We explored a new character in our English text, and created a profile for her describing appearance, personality and background. In Topic, we learnt more about Roman houses and created a persuasive advert to sell a luxurious Roman villa.
Thank you to all the parents for attending parents evening this week. It was a really great opportunity to have those detailed discussions with you, and share the children's wonderful progress so far this year. Also, thank you to those who supported us during our SIAMs inspection on Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Hall and Miss Laslett
