Welcome to Hazel Class.  We hope you and your children will have a great year with us.

Our topic this term is Animal Magic.  The text we are starting off with is The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse by Eric Carle.    The children have enjoyed going on an animal hunt, listening carefully to descriptions of coloured animals and going and finding them on the field.  

The children wrote and drew the animals they found.

Not all the children realised that we are also animals!  We have drawn around and labeled some of our bodies.

The children have all done an early literacy test on the computers in order for them to be able to join Accelerated Reader when they are ready.  The early literacy test is listening comprehension test, but it gives us an idea of their understanding.

This week in English we have begun our talk for writing based on the story "The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse" The children have enjoyed practising the text using actions and they have learnt a new game called "Word Tennis" - ask your children to show you what they remember.

Our first visit to the library.

All the children loved exploring what books were available in the library. They were super sensible and couldnt wait to take a book home to share with you.
