We had had a fun, colourful and tasty time learning about Chinese New Year
On Monday we tried some tyipical chinese food. Most of the children thought it was yummy. We also tried a fortune cookie. We learnt about some of the traditions chinese people follow at this time of year.
We made a traditional red envelope and tried to seal it to hold 6 coins. We learnt how to recognise our coins and had a little introduction to money.
We acted out the story of the chinese new year, I wonder if the children can remember which character they played and what happened to them.
Phonics - th ng and using these in words
Wow! What a Friday afternoon treat. David who serves our lunches brought in a Chinese lion/dragon head for us to look at in the classroom.
The children all tried it on and did some observational drawing. It was really hard tp draw but they did a great job.
