Star of the Week

This weeks Star of the Week is Melissa.

You have worked really hard this week and produced a fabulous piece of work comparing old and new toys. You have persevered in maths using and naming halves and quarters. You are always ready to learn and set a good example to the rest of the class.

Well done for a super week Melissa.

Merit Badges

Merit badges this week go to:

Melissa for super comparison of old and new toys.

Eloise H for excellent perseverance in fractions.

The classroom became a pizzeria in maths today. Mama Mia Pizzeria needed help to make some pizzas and for each pizza they had to know (using fractions) the toppings on each pizza.

In English today the children boxed up our non-fiction Toys map by colouring and adding labels to each different section. We talked about how each section gives us different information about toys.

The opening introduces the text and tells us what it is about.

Paragraph 1 tells us about toys of the past.

Paragraph 2 tells us about toys today.

Paragraph 3 tells us about Ms Shepherd's toy Fishy Fish.

Just 13 children in class on Monday, so we hope the rest of you are accessing the learning on line!

We are doing fractions in maths.  The children made sandwiches and halved them.  Then they had them for snack time, which was lucky because the fruit hadn't arrived.

In English we are doing a non-fiction text about toys.  The children will learn what paragraphs and a sub-title is and they will write a paragraph about their own toy.  Below is the non-fiction map that they have been rehearsing.
