In maths this week we started to use written methods to multiply up to 5 digit numbers.  By focusing on one digit at a time, and checking if we had any numbers to add on, we were simply using our times tables facts.  In English we started our text base don our Anglo Saxon topic, Beowulf.  This is the oldest known English epic poem/ legend of the hero defeating the monster.  The children wrote some wonderfully atmospheric descriptions of the moors and Heorot (the King's great hall).  In Computing we began our programming unit, using Logo on Purple Mash to work out the codes.  In Science we started our unit based on animals, including humans.  We related our previous DT learning from last term to extend our knowledge and understanding of nutrition, and the benefits of each food group.  As a class, we composed a fabulous rap verse for our 'Stop' song in Music.
