WELCOME BACK!

Wow! What a week! It has been wonderful to have children back in school and to have the opportunity to be together again in Beech class. A huge welcome to all our new classmates and welcome back to our "old hands"!

We have begun to get used to our new routines for coming into class and leaving as well as hand washing, lunchtimes and staying sitting in our chairs all the time. All the children have front facing seats and their own equipment at their own tables. As we won't get a "meet the teacher" session for a while we took some photos today to give you a bit of an idea of our new classroom layout.

Today we began learning in earnest - we have had Maths, English and French lessons today and will continue with revision throughout next week. We have begun our topic on Romans with the Myth of Romulus and Remus which we're studying in English and our class reading book, "The Thieves of Ostia" by Caroline Lawrence.

We will have myself, Mrs Woodwood and Mrs Glass (half a week) in class with us, so children from Silver Birch have some familiar faces. Poor Mrs Woodwood was unwell this week, but we all look forward to seeing her soon and wish her well.

We will begin with spellings, times tables etc next week and I'll update parents on here...so watch this space!

Meantime, please be very proud of your children who have settled into school life really quickly and happily this week. Have a lovely weekend - we're all worn out after so long away! I look forward to another busy week next week.

Best wishes

Mrs Strover
