Week beg: 05.05.25

This week we continued working with decimals using dividing and making a whole.  Understanding place value is important to help us with working out calculations.  The children did some excellent writing using the Baker by the Sea text.  Superb blurbs were written using persuasion and really 'selling' the story.  The children gained a better understanding of the present perfect tense.  Solutions was the theme in science - what they are, which substances are soluble and understanding what dissolving means.  We made some mixtures and discussed if they were solutions, and how we could tell. We also looked at one of our mixtures last week and how we could separate the flour, sugar and salt using dissolving and filtering.  The children were very happy to have a double PE session playing rounders on Wednesday with Oak class.  On Thursday during VE day, wearing our red, white and blue, we raised a wonderful VE Day 80 flag, Mrs Short said some words, we had a 1 minute silence and then a prayer.  After this, we listened to a lady called Elizabeth from the British Legion who was 4 years old on VE day, who told us her stories about the war and the time after.  She praised our school for our behaviour and respect.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Hall and Miss Laslett
