The Term Ahead: Potter Class Term 2
English | This term we will be reading the books: Me and You by Anthony Browne and Wolves by Emily Gravett. We will base our English lessons on the books. We will be exploring features of traditional tales and learning how to sequence and retell a story orally and in writing. We will be focussing on writing a ‘perfect sentence’ using the correct punctuation and good handwriting. We will focus on learning word types such as nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. | |
Maths | In Maths we will be learning about 2 units this term: Addition and Subtraction and Shape | |

Science | Our topic in Science is Everyday Materials. The children will be exploring and naming different types of materials. They will become detectives and investigate the features of different materials through practical experiments. | |
RE | In RE we are exploring: How should we care for others and the world and why does it matter? The children will learn about different religions and their beliefs about caring for the world and other people They will also be learning what Christian and Jewish people believe about the beginning of the world and what that means for taking care of it. | |
Foundation Subjects | Our topic in Geography is Where am I? The children will be locating the countries of the UK on a map, recognising features within the school grounds and using directional language.
In Computing we will be studying Programming using Bee-Bots. The children will be exploring commands, instructions and errors through the use of a Bee-Bot.
PE will only be on Wednesday this term. The children will be learning Hockey.
In PSHE the children will focus on Health and Wellbeing. They will explore how to set achievable goals and consider how to overcome difficulties. | |
PE Days
Please send the children to school in their PE kits on Wednesdays only this term.
Please ensure that you send your child to school with a named water bottle every day. Please ensure that all uniform is labelled with your child’s name – especially jumpers and cardigans!
Your teachers in Potter Class!
Mrs Cronin will teach Potter Class every morning. We will learn Phonics, English, Maths and have our group reading sessions. The class will be taught by Miss Knight on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Mr Magliocco will teach on Wednesday afternoons and Mrs Grady will teach on Thursday afternoons.
